Dog Art Challenge

I belong to a Dog Art forum that offers challenges each month. This challenge was to create piece with either an irish wolfhound or a basset hound. I decided to do a few basset hound, fused dichoric glass pendants, using my new enamel paints. I've complete three, although, I only have one photographed at this time.

Take a Peek...

....inside my kiln. Here is the next step of my painting on this small batch of glass pendants. This photo was taken after the 2nd firing inside my kiln. I'm happy with how the french bulldog is coming along.

More Enamel Fun

More painting on glass with my new enamel paints. The second photo shows a batch of pendants that were painted and kiln annealed once. They will continue to receive multiple layers of paint and fire polishing.

Tribute to Bailey

I enjoy fusing glass. I especially delight in the surprises I find each time I open my kiln to see my latest experiment. While creating with glass is much fun, my greatest joy comes from conversations and emails from my customers.

Today I was touched by the knowledge that my little pendant was to be worn as a reminder of Bailey, the black greyhound. She was only 4 1/2 years old when she passed away...three weeks ago to this day. She was a retired racer and Veterinarians believe her racing career left her with her neck injury.

I hope Bailey's Mom finds comfort in wearing my rainbow greyhound close to her heart, knowing Bailey is pain free, prancing around, waiting for her at the rainbow bridge. Hug your hounds today. Hug all your family members and treasure each moment spent with them.

Portrait of Miss Spinner

Fresh from my kiln is my first attempts at using some new enamels. I kiln fired after each layer of hand painting with the enamels. I had lots of fun making this piece and hope to start doing many more.

Miss Spinner is the italian greyhound who modeled for this portrait on glass. She is a sweet old toothless girl who lost her first family very late in her life. She then made a big trip across country to be with a family that adores her. Thanks to everyone who helped her in her journey to her wonderful home.
